Anjali was born in 11 september 1982 Magalikuduru in Andhra Pradesh, India. She has two brother.She learnt her education in Chennai city of Tamilnadu. In the beginning, after the end of the studies of Anjali she preferred the modeling and once she has got chosen by the director Shiva Nageshwara Rao. Her first film entry was in a Tollywood movie, namely Photo, which was a thriller core story. Anjali says that she has pursued the cinema career which is the dream of her father.

She is best known for her critically acclaimed role as Anandhi in the 2007 Tamil film Katradhu Thamizh, which happened to be her first Tamil film itself and introduced her to the Tamil audience as an actress.

As an Indian film actress and model, who predominantly appears in Tamil films. Following a stint in modelling, she was cast in starring roles in two low-profile Telugu productions, before gaining attention with her critically acclaimed performance as Anandhi in Kattradhu Thamizh (2007), for which she received the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debutante.

She started her acting flim career in 2007 with the critically acclaimed Tamil film Katradhu Thamizh, directed by Ram, who gave her the opportunity to star in the film, when she was vainly waiting for an offer in the Telugu film industry. Though the film proved to be unsuccessful at the box-office, people took notice of "Ananthi", the homely girl, which Anjali portrayed in the film and she garnered critical acclaim, was highly praised and was also nominated for the Filmfare Award for the Best Debut Actress in Tamil for that year.
